What a wonderful, fabulous and amazing trip! It was, of course, great to just have 6 days in warm weather and SUN. (why did we move away from CA????) Anyway, just an all-around fun trip, way easier and less stressful than the last time we went when Ainsley was 4. We just had so much fun, and it was great to have time with the kids without agendas & homework & RULES. ;)
We also had a chance to see my grandmother, who is currently in a nursing home after a recent stroke. I know she was so happy to see us and love on the girls a little bit. She was still insistent that she plans on driving up to Seattle (ha!) and told her doctor she wouldn't bring him any more avocadoes (she has a big tree in her yard) until he lets her. Riiiiiiiight. Stubborn Italian woman. ;)
Also got to meet a friend of Dan's for lunch at In-n-Out - a friend from high school that he just recently re-connected with. Fun times, but always too short.
One funny story: both girls brought their spending money with them on the trip - Ainsley was intent on buying herself some Disney princess Polly Pocket dolls. She picked out the one she wanted, and since she didn't have her wallet with her that day, I paid for them and told her she could pay me back. Fast forward 2 day -Ainsley wants to shop again, and we stop to see how much money she has so Dan starts to take money out of her wallet and tells her it's what she owes us for the dolls. She proceeds to cry and get really upset (all while standing in front of the Carnation Cafe on Main Street) and tells Dan he's stealing from her and that's "really rude!" We keep trying to explain to her that she's paying us back, and she finally says, "I think that you are already rich and you are just trying to get MORE rich so you are STEALING from me and that is RUDE!" I had to cover my face and turn around because I was laughing so hard! She was really adamant about it and SO upset, but it was just so funny. But don't worry, she did eventually understand the process and she and daddy made amends, once she understood he wasn't stealing from her. Too cute, that girl!
