Ainsley's preschool "congratulations"
Wow, this year has flown by! It seems like she just started at the Giving Tree and now here we are at the end of her preschool experience. It was all new for us since Hayley didn't go to preschool. Ainsley loved the Giving Tree - it is such a fun place and the teachers are just so sweet and fun and encouraging. She has made such great progress in what she has learned this year - her reading skills continue to surprise us, and we are realizing her math skills are amazing! I just love the jump start she will have on Kindergarten and can't wait to experience all of that with her. She loves school and is excited to get a "pack-pack" for school in the fall.
Her "congratulations" (her version of graduation) was fun - it was a HUGE group, I think each child must have had 15 relatives each. :) The kids sang songs that they have been practicing all year, and after getting their "diploma", they had time for treats and fun games. We took her out for dinner to celebrate before the program - she loved the attention of celebrating her special day. She had several of her girlfriends from church/MOPS/ballet in school with her, so it was fun to share the moment with other friends!

Our friends the Millard's were over on Memorial Day for a BBQ - it was a fun afternoon and the weather was beautiful! The kids needed a little indoor down time before dinner, so we let them hang out and watch a movie....however, as we were cooking dinner, Christy peeked in to check on them and found Caleb & Ainsley like this...

We were laughing so hard!!!!!! I honestly don't know what prompted Ainsley to do put her arm around Caleb, but it was so danged funny! Of course, both Ed and Dan were fast-forwarding about 10 years and didn't think it would be quite so funny then. Ah, the innocence of youth!
Third Day/Brandon Heath concert
What an awesome concert! We went with 3 other couples to see Third Day and Brandon Heath at Overlake Church (this is a HUGE church, that actually has a shuttle for the parking lot!!!) and had such a great time. We were sitting in the 7th row and it was so loud and so amazing. The experience of the music and and the things they shared was so great, it was really more of a worship service than just a concert, but with all the cool concert "stuff". :) Also loved it when Third Day came up the aisle and played a few songs just in the middle of the seats, so cool. What a fun night with some of our dearest friends and awesome music!

What an awesome concert! We were sitting in the 7th row and it was so loud and so amazing. Happy Mother's Day!
It took a few tries to get a good photo of the girls for Mother's Day gifts...though they are always willing to ham it up for the camera, especially Ainsley! We did get a shot that I liked, though I think the 3rd one down is my favorite. :)
These are the giftst that I made for the grandma's - the photo was printed on tissue paper then Mod Podged to the front of a tumbled floor tile. They loved their gifts!
The last 3 years, we started a tradition of going to a Mother's Day tea on the Sunday prior to Mother's Day, at the Victorian Rose Tea Room in Port Orchard. It's fun to get dressed up, and Aunt Marianne always buys corsages for everyone. The food is wonderful, though we are always surprised at how stuffed you can get on those tiny sandwiches and treats!!! It's a fun tradition, and I love that we all get together to celebrate and then still get time of our own on Mother's Day.

Bob the Betta
Hayley worked so hard to earn stars on her chart (by getting ready for school each day without us having to nag or remind) and she chose to get a fish as her reward. She picked out a blue betta fish that she named Bob. She is SO excited about him! He has very quickly learned when and where she was feeding him each day and will swim right to that spot each time. Ainsley is now patiently earning her stars to get a fish that she plans to name Wanda. ha ha
**Update: Apparently when Ainsley brought home Wanda, we picked a fish that was diseased. Who of course, in turn, passed it along to Bob. So within about 3 days of getting Wanda, Bob was dead. Wanda followed a day later. Hayley was so sad when we picked her up at school and had to tell her about Bob. Poor girl! :( After a couple days, she was ready for Bob v.2 and Ainsley was ready to get Jessie. Both are VERY alert and active and healthy and aggressive, as betta fish should be! Success!
